Driver charged with DUI after hitting family car

Family of four were injured Saturday afternoon when a driver on the outskirts reportedly crossed our path of Plainville Avenue, hit by their cars. The family, including a man, woman, infant and young boys, was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital.

Truck driver was arrested and charged with drunk driving, police said. The cost is more able to follow after investigations are completed.

According to the witnesses, all family members aware of after the crash and said they were from New York and have came to visit family in the area.

Abby Schames, of Farmington, is right behind the family car when it hit and avoid the hit himself. He stopped and offered Her a blanket and give families a report to the police, telling them the truck crossing into opposing traffic, where he hit a car.

“He was the driver of the car had no choice but to get a hit because it could be either hitting a pole and hurting his daughter and wife taking her and the baby or he decided to take on its own,” Schames said.
